We are excited to celebrate five years of partnership with our inaugural Pennsylvania-based Choose to Give partners.
Since its launch in 2017, NRG has contributed more than $5 million to our various partner organizations and their incredible efforts in our communities through the Choose to Give program. For the launch of this program, NRG partnered with Pennsylvania-based organizations - Big Brothers Big Sisters, Children's Hospital of Pennsylvania, Nemours Children's Health and Philabundance. When you enroll in NRG's electricity and natural gas plans under the Choose to Give program, NRG makes an initial $50 contribution and after that, 1% of the supply portion of the energy bill annually, thus supporting our partners without any additional cost to you. At NRG, we are proud to support our communities through this program. Read on to get more information about the organizations and how you can enroll to support one of our partners.
Born in 2016, Sha’Nia was rushed to Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware immediately after birth for open-heart surgery because of a severe congenital heart defect. Nemours Children's surgeons diagnosed Sha’Nia with Infradiaphragmatic Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return. Sha’Nia was able to go home after multiple surgeries, but was soon rushed back to Nemours Children's when she went into atrial flutter, a condition that happens if the heart’s upper chambers beat out of coordination with the lower chambers, causing poor blood flow. Sha’Nia, now 4, is a happy girl and doing well, although she continues to struggle with immune system issues. “I am so thankful for Nemours Children's. They quickly recognized what was wrong and kept me calm and informed throughout the crisis. Thank you for saving our daughter,” said Sha’Nia’s mother, Shaneen.
