Spring has sprung, and it’s time to break out our brooms and get rid of winter’s accumulated clutter. Cleaning up your home is a great way to celebrate the beginning of spring and we have some tips to get you started.
Clean out your patio furniture, wash any cushions and restore/replace anything that’s beyond cleaning. Pressure wash your deck, and wash your window screens. Scrub your grill and accessories so you’ll be ready for the barbecue.
Microwave is one of the hardest working kitchen appliances, and as temperatures rise, it’ll be used even more. Use a cup of water with lemon juice to steam and wipe down to clean and deodorize your microwave.
Go through each room and determine what things you’ll keep, donate, or throw away. Decluttering will help prevent build up of dust and make cleaning easier. This is also a good chance to put away winter stuff and bring out warm weather clothes.
Use a steam cleaner (if you have one) or use a spray grout cleaner to thoroughly clean your tile and grout. Use a grout pen to recolor your grout and give a fresh, clean appearance.
Exhaust vents in the kitchen and bath are expected to work year-round but are rarely cleaned. Thoroughly wash kitchen exhaust filters or replace them if they’re disposable. Wash the bath vents if they’re removable, otherwise, give them a good dusting and vacuum over them.
You will enjoy your morning cup of Joe even more when you clean out the leftover coffee residue or limescale buildup caused by hardwater. Brew a pot or a few servings with a mixture of water and vinegar until it runs clear.
